Here’s the answers to the most Frequently Asked Questions we receive:
Do I need a firearms licence to give the sport a try?
No. Not initially - subject to Club approval after you complete a Police declaration form which we provide you when you visit.
If you decide to become a member, we can help with the process to acquire a full licence.
What age are participants?
Minimum age is 12 years, provided a parent or guardian signs all required documentation until the participant is 18.
Our Club members currently range from high school age to ‘super-veteran’ age and everything in between.
What days do you shoot / when are you open?
Club shoots are each Saturday from 12.30-4.30 with practice most Saturday mornings between 9.30-12. (Unless the range is hosting a competition or closed for any reason). You can make an appointment to visit or ‘have a go’ for either of these times.
What does it cost to participate?
Visitors trying the sport are charged $20 for students(U21) & pensioners and $30 for others, plus consumables, for each attendance.
If you wish to join, annual membership ranges from approximately $235-$500 depending on age and affiliated Association fees at the time, which cover insurances and fixed costs.
Members also pay a fee when using the range of $15 for students(U21) & pensioners and $20 for others, plus any consumables.
Do I need to provide my own rifle and equipment?
Not initially. We have Club equipment that you can use to try the sport and get started.
If you join, we can help point you in the right direction to acquire your own equipment over time.
What type of rifles are used over what distances?
See our website ‘About us’ for details.
